Crystal Paradise provides selected mineral photographs free of charge – for schools, universities, mineral clubs, editorial offices, and anyone who needs good mineral images. Each photo shows a real specimen from our own collection, with the accompanying data.

Minerals fascinate us with their incredible variety of crystal forms, colors, and localities. With our mineral photo archive, we aim to make high-quality and freely usable mineral photos with reliable information accessible — for collectors, clubs, schools, and educational purposes.
Since no single collection can depict the diversity of the mineral world, we want to build the archive together with other collectors and mineral enthusiasts. This way, a constantly growing source of knowledge will be created, documenting minerals and their localities, preserving knowledge, and sharing the fascination for them.

You take photos yourself?
This database thrives on growth. If you have your own mineral photos, you can submit up to 20 at a time. We need the find locality and site for each piece — documented provenance is why this collection is more valuable than an image portal. We review every submission, and if accepted, your name will be listed as the author for each image.
Missing a mineral species? Let us know which one. Such hints determine what we work on next.
How to use the images

Choose image
Open the mineral type page and select the specimen that suits your purpose. The location, dimensions, and resolution are listed under each photo.

Download
The web version with 2048 px is sufficient for club websites, blog posts and presentations. For printing, you will need the higher resolution — just let us know.

State source
Below each image is the complete source citation for copying. For online publications, the link must be included; for print, the text line is sufficient.

All photos in this database are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. You are free to use, modify, and share them for free—even commercially, and even without asking us first. The only condition is attribution.
A ready-to-copy line is provided under each image for this purpose. For online publications, the link must be included; for print, the text line is sufficient. If you edit an image—crop, brighten, isolate—please briefly note this, for example with "Image cropped." The license also requires this.
Our logo, the name Crystal Paradise as a brand, and the texts of this lexicon are not covered by the license. And please do not give the impression that we endorse or recommend your publication.
Each image is available on the page with 2048 pixels—enough for websites, presentations, and club magazines. For full-page printing, please contact us briefly, and you will receive the full resolution.
