BLV Nature Guide "My Hobby: Collecting Stones – What – How – Where?" by Walter Schumann. BLV Verlagsgesellschaft, Munich. Edition as double volume.
Not a field guide for identification, but a practical book about collecting itself. The volume covers the three subject areas of minerals, rocks, and fossils and shows the criteria by which you can build a collection – regionally, systematically, or thematically – and how to organize it afterward.
Added to this is the practical craft: tips for searching in the field, aids for identification, preparing finds through cleaning and preparation, as well as care and preservation of the collection. A separate section covers the legal framework for collecting.
Walter Schumann is one of the most widely read German-language authors of mineral literature – he is also the author of the BLV classics on gemstones and minerals.
Condition: used
This is a used copy. The book has been read and shows signs of use – visible are storage and reading traces, bumped corners and edges, slight rub marks on the cover, as well as a previous owner's price label on the back.
The photos show the actual item being offered.
