The Aquamarine, a jewel of natural beauty, unfolds its splendor in raw, untamed forms. Thiscrystal-cleargemstone, which comes from the mineral beryl, appears invarious shades of blue, from a gentle sky blue to a deep ocean blue. Itsunpolished surfacetells the story of the nature that shaped it.
The stone weighs 159g and comes from Pakistan.
TheAquamarine is the blue variety of the silicate mineral beryl and therefore crystallizes, like beryl, in the hexagonal crystal system with the chemical composition Be₃Al₂[Si₆O₁₈].
Aquamarine gets its blue color from trace amounts of divalent and trivalent iron ions on various lattice positions. As an allochromatic (foreign-colored) mineral, the streak color of aquamarine is always white.
Due to its high Mohs hardness of 7.5 to 8 and its often well-formed, clear crystals, aquamarine is predominantly cut into gemstones. Aquamarines are found in pegmatites, especially in granites, but also in metamorphic rocks such as gneiss and as mineral placer deposits in river sediments.
Like all beryls, aquamarine can often be found in the form of well-developed and transparent crystals, sometimes several decimeters in length and thickness.
In the world of gemstones, aquamarine is often revered as a healing stone. It is said to promote clarity, serenity, and communication. Its look and feel evoke the gentle sound of waves and the vastness of the ocean.
Aquamarine is a symbol of natural beauty and inner strength. Its unadulterated form reminds us that true treasures are often found in their raw state.
If you own an aquamarine, hold it up to the sun and let the light dance through its clear facets. Feel the connection to nature and the magic of this extraordinary stone.
Properties and effects of aquamarine:
- Birthstone: Month of March

Meaning of aquamarines in different cultures:
- Greek culture: Aquamarines were seen as a gift from the mermaids and were considered a symbol of love and harmony. It was believed that aquamarine could win the favor of the sea goddess Amphitrite and offered protection to sailors on the high seas.
- Roman culture: Aquamarine was seen as a symbol of clarity and purity and was often used in royal jewelry.
- Chinese culture: Here, aquamarine is regarded as a lucky stone and is said to bring harmony and peace.
- Indian culture: Aquamarine is associated with the throat chakra and is said to strengthen the voice and improve communication.
- Modern culture: Aquamarine is often regarded as the birthstone for the month of March and symbolizes clarity, calm, inspiration, balance, and loyalty
The role of aquamarine in various cultures shows how this gemstone has been revered and cherished over the centuries.
