Anyone wanting to use one of these stones as a water stone should look closely: Clear quartz, garnet, aventurine, and ruby we classify as suitable. Jasper and pyrite, on the other hand, are not – both contain iron compounds that oxidize with moisture; with pyrite, this even leads to the piece disintegrating over time. Carnelian – The Stone of Drive (currently not in our range)

Carnelian is an orange-red chalcedony from the quartz family. It reaches a Mohs hardness of 6.5 to 7. This makes it robust and suitable for everyday use. Carnelian is mainly mined in India, Brazil, and Madagascar.

In crystal healing, carnelian is considered a stone of joy and motivation. According to tradition, it is said to promote courage and decisiveness – qualities that perfectly fit Aries. Carnelian has been known since antiquity: In ancient Egypt, it was worn as a protective stone and used as grave goods, as evidenced by archaeological finds from the 3rd millennium BC, among others.

Bloodstone (Heliotrope) – The Stone of Mars (not in our range)

Bloodstone, mineralogically known as heliotrope, is a dark green chalcedony with characteristic red spots of iron oxide. Its hardness is also 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale. Notable deposits are found in India, Australia, and Brazil.

Since bloodstone is associated with the planet Mars, it is considered a particularly close companion to Aries. In crystal healing, it is traditionally said to support endurance and vitality. In the Middle Ages, it was considered a warrior's stone – some European knights carried it as a talisman.

Red Jasper – Grounding for the Fire Child

Red jasper is an opaque variety of chalcedony with a warm red color caused by iron oxide content. It has a Mohs hardness of 6.5 to 7 and is found worldwide, including in Germany, Russia, and Brazil.

In the tradition of crystal healing, red jasper is attributed with a grounding effect. For the fiery Aries, this can be especially valuable: according to tradition, it is said to help channel energy and slow down impulsive actions. It is considered a stone of balance for strong personalities.

Diamond – The Classic Birthstone (not part of our range)

Diamond is the traditional birthstone of Aries in Western gem lore. With a Mohs hardness of 10, it is the hardest known natural material. Diamonds form under extreme pressure and at temperatures of over 1,000 degrees Celsius at depths of around 150 to 200 kilometers in the Earth's mantle.

In traditional symbolism, diamond stands for purity, strength, and invincibility. These qualities reflect the Aries character. As a jewelry stone, it is timeless and can carry deep symbolic meaning as a gift for those born under Aries.

• Ruby – the red variety of corundum and, with a Mohs hardness of 9, the hardest stone of this sign; the gemstone of Mars. We only carry it as individual pieces
• Botswana agate, Golden Healer, and red jasper as a separate variety are also part of the association but are not available from us

How Aries Stones Are Used in Crystal Healing

The connection between gemstones and zodiac signs has a long history. Even in ancient Babylon, stars were associated with certain stones. In Greco-Roman antiquity, a more systematic assignment developed from this. Today, the zodiac-stone association is a living part of modern spiritual practice.

Caring for and Cleaning Aries Healing Stones – How It's Done Right

Anyone who uses their stones regularly should also clean them regularly. In crystal healing, it is assumed that stones absorb energy and should therefore occasionally be discharged. There are several proven methods for this:

• Moonlight: Place stones outside or on a windowsill overnight during a full moon.
• Earth: Bury stones for 24 to 48 hours – especially suitable for robust stones like jasper.
• Smoke cleansing: Pass stones through the smoke of sage or frankincense.
• Running water: Briefly clean water-resistant stones under running water.

After cleaning, it is recommended to recharge the stones. Sunlight for 2 to 4 hours works well for the robust quartzes of this sign – clear quartz, jasper, and aventurine.
