Crystal Paradise as a Green Dot Online Shop – Our Contribution to the Circular Economy

As a Green Dot Online Shop, Crystal Paradise is now officially taking responsibility for the disposal of its product packaging. We have joined the Duales System Deutschland (DSD) – one of Europe's most renowned recycling systems, founded in 1990. The Green Dot stands for licensed packaging that is fed into the dual collection system and professionally recycled. For us, this step is not a marketing ploy, but an honest decision that aligns with our values: authenticity, connection to nature, and responsibility towards the planet from which our stones originate.
What does the Green Dot mean – and why is it relevant for an online shop?
The Green Dot is the trademark of Duales System Deutschland. Companies that use this mark have paid a license fee, which funds the collection, sorting, and recycling of their packaging materials. In Germany, online retailers have been obliged by the Packaging Act of 2019 to participate in a dual system if they put packaging into circulation. This also applies to shipping packaging, filling material, and cushioning material.
In our shop, we ship crystals, minerals, and healing stones daily. Each package is carefully wrapped so that the delicate pieces arrive safely. This means: cardboard boxes, tissue paper, bubble wrap, tape, labels. All of this is packaging material with an ecological footprint. By joining the DSD, we ensure that this footprint is systematically compensated – through a licensed and state-recognized procedure.
Duales System Deutschland in Numbers
The DSD was founded in 1990, making it an established player in German waste management for over 34 years. Annually, more than 6 million tons of packaging waste are collected and recycled in Germany via the dual system. Over 90 percent of German households regularly use the yellow bin or yellow bag. More than 20,000 companies are licensed with the DSD. These figures show: those who participate are part of a system that truly works.

Green Dot Online Shop: Why Crystal Paradise Took This Step
We sell stones from the earth. That is literally nature. Rock crystals from the Alps, aquamarines from Pakistan, rare minerals from all over the world – all of this comes from a planet we want to preserve. It would be disingenuous to speak of closeness to nature and the energy of the earth without at the same time taking concrete measures for environmental protection.
From our own experience, we know that many of our customers attach great importance to sustainable practices. They shop consciously. They pay attention to origin, authenticity, and quality – and they regularly ask us what we do for the environment. This step is our clear answer to that.
Sustainability at Crystal Paradise is not a trend, but an ongoing process. We are intensively engaged with the topic of packaging – read our detailed article on this: Sustainable Packaging at Crystal Paradise – Why it is more than just a trend for me.
What has specifically changed by joining?

- Crystal Paradise fully complies with the requirements of the German Packaging Act (VerpackG).
Sustainability and Crystals – A Natural Connection

Minerals form over millions of years deep within the earth. Some crystals are 500 million years old or older. They carry the history of the planet within them. Those who work with and trade in such materials inevitably develop a special respect for nature. We want to show this respect in our business actions as well.
This includes how we source, how we package, and how we ship. Our products come from all over the world – a look behind the scenes of global crystal sourcing at Crystal Paradise shows how much effort is involved. Authenticity and origin are just as important to us as the ecological footprint on the way to the customer.
What Can Our Customers Do?
You too can do your part. Here are simple steps for conscious handling of packaging material:
- Separate packaging: Cardboard goes into the paper bin, films and bubble wrap into the yellow bin or yellow bag.
- Reuse boxes: Our shipping boxes are sturdy and perfectly suitable for the next package or as a storage box.
- Save tissue paper: The tissue paper we use to wrap your stones can be reused multiple times – for example, for gifting.
- Recycle filling material: Paper cushioning and biodegradable chips are compostable or can be disposed of in the paper bin.
- Order consciously: Bundle orders, if possible, to reduce shipping packaging.
Crystal Paradise and Its Responsibility as an Online Retailer
E-commerce grows year after year. Online retail in Germany alone generated sales of approximately 85 billion euros in 2023. With every package shipped, packaging waste is created. As an online shop, we therefore bear a special responsibility. The Packaging Act (VerpackG), which has been in force since January 1, 2019, stipulates that all those who put packaging into circulation must participate in a dual system. We fulfill this obligation – not only because we have to, but because we believe it is the right thing to do.
At the same time, we are committed to continuous improvement. We constantly review which materials we can reduce or replace. Where possible, we use recycled filling material and avoid unnecessary plastic packaging. This is a process that is never truly finished – and that's a good thing.
The Federal Ministry for the Environment also provides comprehensive information on the goals and legal basis of packaging disposal in Germany: Information on the Packaging Act at the BMUV.
Sustainability Connects Us with Our Community
Crystals and healing stones attract people who often feel a deep connection to nature. Many in our community are actively involved in environmental issues, live mindfully, and make conscious purchasing decisions. We recommend that everyone who loves stones also considers the packaging – and we are the first to do so ourselves. By joining the Green Dot, we send a clear signal: sustainability does not end with the product. It begins with the stone – and extends to the disposal of the last layer of packaging.
If you would like to discover our products and philosophy, you can find a selection of hand-picked natural pieces on our pages for CrystalPower® healing stones, protection, water, and energy stones – packaged with care and now also with the Green Dot.
Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Green Dot and what does it stand for?
The Green Dot is the trademark of Duales System Deutschland (DSD). It identifies packaging for which a license fee has been paid to finance recycling. Companies that use the mark officially participate in the collection and recovery of packaging waste. Since its introduction in 1990, the Green Dot has been considered one of Germany's most recognized environmental labels.
Must an online shop like Crystal Paradise join the Dual System?
Yes. The German Packaging Act (VerpackG), which has been in force since January 1, 2019, obliges all companies that put packaging into circulation – including online shops – to participate in a dual system. Crystal Paradise fulfills this legal obligation by joining Duales System Deutschland and thus contributes to the recycling infrastructure.
How can I, as a customer, properly dispose of Crystal Paradise packaging?
Cardboard and paper belong in the paper bin. Films, bubble wrap, and plastic packaging go into the yellow bin or yellow bag. Biodegradable fillers can be composted or disposed of with organic waste, depending on the material. Sturdy cardboard boxes can also be reused – for example, for gifting or storage. Crystal Paradise recommends reusing packaging whenever possible before disposing of it.
Does the Green Dot mean that the packaging is fully recyclable?
Not necessarily. The Green Dot indicates that a fee for the disposal of this packaging has been paid to a dual system. It does not directly state that the material is 100 percent recyclable. Crystal Paradise is working to gradually switch packaging materials to better recyclable alternatives. You can find more information in our blog article on sustainable packaging.
Does Crystal Paradise plan further sustainability measures?
Yes. Joining the Green Dot is an important step, but not the last. Crystal Paradise continuously reviews how packaging quantities can be reduced, materials improved, and transport routes optimized. Sustainability is an ongoing process for us, integrated into all our actions – from sourcing stones to the last mile to the customer.
Note: The mentioned effects of crystals and healing stones are spiritual traditions without scientific evidence.
